Assignments and Grading

10% = Online Forum Discussion.

Students are expected to contribute to the online forum site on a fortnightly basis. You should contribute one discussion question and provide a response to one other student. Your responses should be about 250 words each.

20% = Class presentation.

You will prepare one class presentation on one of texts studied in each semester. This should be 15-20 minutes. Your presentation should endeavor to include a good selection of the primary reading but the approach you choose is your own. You may want to base your presentation on the suggested essay questions. You should prepare a handout to distribute to the class.

20% = 2,000 word essay.

            This essay should come out of your presentation and the in-class discussion.

15% =  Course project.

            To be completed on a topic discussed with the professor. Ideas include writing a comic strip or 
            graphic novel chapter for one episode of More's Utopia; rewrite a canto of FQ in modern English, 
           using the same meter and rhyme. This should be submitted at the end of week seven of semester two.

25% = 2,500 word essay.

            To be completed from essay titles provided and submitted at the end of week twelve of semester two.

10% = Participation.

Attendance in class in not enough. Informed participation in class discussion is essential.
